Electric painting

An electric painting of jazz trumpeter Clifford compiled from the only surviving performance video of his 1955 appearance on the Soupy Sale's show Soupy's On in Detroit. He performed "Lady Be Good" and "Memories of You" along with drummer Max Roach and Detroit musicians from the show.

Soupy Sales, a comedian and jazz aficiando, regularly had jazz greats on his show, however, only three jazz recordings remain.

Clifford Brown was killed in 1956 in a fatal car crash on an icy Pennsylvania turnpike along with pianist Richie Powell (Bud Powell's brother) and his wife, Nancy, who was at the wheel. He was 25 years old.
