Apotheosis conjoins two events performed by John Lennon and Yoko in 1969, their week long honeymoon Bed-in at the Amsterdam Hilton starting March 25, and an experimental film, Apotheosis, directed by John Lennon & Yoko Ono shot in December 1969 in Lavenham, Suffolk, England. John and Yoko were originally to travel in the hydrogen filled balloon, but ultimately a balloon operator and cameraman Nic Knowland recorded the journey for 17 minutes.
This re-imagining restores John & Yoko to the balloon as a background to their hotel room and the represents the left panel of a triptych in progress. The work is assembled from over 300 film stills and photographs world press recordings the bed-in, stills from Apotheosis and BBC documentation, aided with Google street view.
